Tropical Environment
"ILK" is a lengthy personal project that I actively work on and develop in my free time and is where my handle."thoseofthatilk," comes from. I also use this story to experiment in many different programs and practice new art techniques and forms. One day I would like to develop it into a bigger project, but for now, it serves as just a free-time project.

In this project, I turned one of my environment concepts into a Maya model for a future project asset. It was a lot of fun learning how to translate a 2D concept into a 3D space.
Character Design
Astriol
Astriol is an organic crystal golem and is one member of a large society of aristocratic geo-organic people. Crystal-based characters are a common trope, so I wanted her to stand out a little bit from other current designs. In "ILK" she is the symbolic "shield" for the main character, and I wanted her design to reflect that fact.
Vendis and Helios
Vendis is the main character of my story; they and their mother are part of an alien species that is a type of mimic that takes the appearance of the planet's host species. Like cuckoo birds, they are left on the planet as infants to be taken care of by the host species. Helios, their mother, is seen as a God, and vendis is seen as a demi-god despite being just aliens. Vendis is a character who struggles with the weight of their perceived role, so they aren't quite as wholesome as they are supposed to be. Ilk has four different species, and I wanted to make them different and unique but coherent in the universe.
